This makes me feel better about myself.

Q: What is a typical day in your writing life?

A: Argh! Every time someone asks me this I think, “Do I write? Ever???” O.K. — I must. I write when I can, here and there. I spend a good amount of time wishing I were a better housekeeper and that I didn’t have to cook. I also wander around, ignoring the hard parts of my novels.
I do have a dream writing day. It goes like this: I wake up early. When I look in the mirror I don’t have wrinkles and I don’t need make up. I don’t need to exercise. When I sit down at the computer, I write for four hours. My typing speed is 100 w.p.m., 98 percent accuracy (instead of 34 w.p.m., 45 percent accuracy). In the late morning, I finally wander into the kitchen. One of my beautiful daughters has (of course) fixed breakfast and cleaned up (see above paragraph). We spend the rest of the day watching movies, reading and generally having a fun time together.
